Daniel Drucker

Dr. Daniel Drucker, Senior Investigator with the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, was announced as the Principal Award Winner of the 2018 Manning Laureate Awards, the highest honour the Ernest C. Manning Awards Foundation bestows. This award highlights Dr. Drucker’s achievement in revolutionizing treatment for short bowel syndrome, a disorder resulting in malabsorption of fluids and food due to a resection of the small intestine.

In this Globe and Mail article, Dr. Drucker says “I always have an eye on whether what I’m doing on the science side of things might be relevant to my patients. Because at the end of the day, I think all of us go to work and we want to make the world a better place.”

The Ernest C. Manning Awards Foundation has been discovering, encouraging and rewarding Canadian innovators and telling their stories for 37 years. They are a national, volunteer-driven charity that recognizes innovators who are solving some of the world’s biggest challenges.
