Jay Hennick is the past Chairman of Sinai Health System. He and his wife established The Jay and Barbara Hennick Foundation which contributes to many charitable causes in health care and education such as The Hennick Family Wellness Centre at Mount Sinai Hospital, The Hennick Centre of Business and Law, a MBA program at the University of Ottawa and the Everyone Gives Program (The Everyone Gives Program is one of the first global social giving campaigns, an initiative established and funded by Colliers International).
Jay is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and largest shareholder of Colliers International Group Inc. (NASDAQ — CIGI and TSX — CIG.TO). Colliers International is one of the world’s largest and fastest growing commercial real estate service firms operating from more than 200 offices in 41 countries. Jay is also the Founder, Chairman and largest shareholder of FirstService Corporation (NASDAQ — FSV and TSX — FSV.TO). FirstService Corporation is the largest manager of multi-family residential properties in North America and a leading provider of property services.
In 1998, at the age of 41, Jay received Ontario’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Consumer Services, as well as Canada’s coveted Entrepreneur of the Year Award. In 2001, Jay was named Canada’s Chief Executive Officer of the year by Canadian Business Magazine.
Jay completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at York University and Doctorate of Laws (J.D.) from the University of Ottawa before embarking on a career as a corporate lawyer. In 2011, Jay received an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from York University and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Ottawa in 2014.
