Rt. Hon. John N. Turner, P.C., C.C., Q.C.
John Turner is currently in the consulting business. He served as the Prime Minister of Canada in 1984, and was an MP in Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia. He also served as the Solicitor General, Minister of Finance, Minister of Justice, and was the first Minister of Consumer and Corporate Affairs.
John practiced law in Quebec and Ontario for 41 years, first with Stikeman and Elliot in Montreal, followed by McMillan Binch and Miller Thomson in Toronto. He has also been a member of several major corporate boards.
A graduate and Rhodes Scholar from the University of British Columbia, John read law at Oxford University and was called to the English Bar in 1952. When he returned to Canada in 1953, he was called to the Quebec Bar and began practicing law in Montreal.
