Performance Indicators

Sinai Health is transparent in our performance and accountable to the patients we care for, as well as the public. This means measuring our performance against provincial and national benchmarks and making sound decisions about our operations, services and resources to ensure we provide an exceptional standard of care.

Sinai Health performance data is made available through Health Quality Ontario. This site provides information about individual Ontario hospitals so that patients and their families can be active partners in their care. Health Quality Ontario currently reports on 10 hospital care quality indicators for the province. These indicators cover hospital-associated infections, surgical site infection prevention, hand hygiene compliance among hospital health care workers (before patient contact and after patient contact) and Surgical Safety Checklist compliance.

Quality Improvement Plan

Excellent care begins with quality, safety and accountability. The Sinai Health Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) helps us drive performance and enhance patient care through focused targets and actions related to four dimensions of quality:

  • Safe
  • Timely
  • Effective
  • Person Centred

Aligned with system and provincial priorities, the QIP has Board oversight and is reviewed regularly by staff across all levels of the organization. Its development included input from many stakeholders, including patients and their families. As a result, everyone across Sinai Health is continually working together to find new and better ways of doing things to enhance care, increase satisfaction and achieve better clinical outcomes for our patients.

The Sinai Health System 2023-2024 QIP (PDF) articulates the priorities for the organization and is complemented by a detailed work plan (PDF).
