Sinai Health System experts are often called upon by local news media for their expertise on various subject areas including infection control, diabetes, research findings, palliative care and women’s health, to name of few. Pamela GoodwinDr. Pamela Goodwin, Director of the Marvelle Koffler Breast Centre at Mount Sinai was interviewed by the Toronto Star on her research into the link between obesity and breast cancer. “In an obese micro-environment we have an influx of inflammatory cells into the (fat) tissue and those inflammatory cells then directly impact the growth of the cancer cells,” says Goodwin. menopauseAiming to dispel stigma associated with menopause, Dr. Wendy Wolfman, Chair of Mature Women’s Health at Mount Sinai Hospital, shared her expertise on addressing and managing menopause symptoms with CTV Toronto. Here is a link to that segment.

 

 

CBC interviews Palliative care physician, Dr. Evan Schneider highlights the need for medical interpreters when discussing health care with patients in an interview with CBC Radio. Speaking to CBC’s Cross Country Checkup, Dr. Melissa Melnitzer, physician at Mount Sinai Hospital, spoke to CBC’s Cross Country Checkup about Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD). Links to both interviews can be found here.

 

The Agenda Many of our physicians have appeared on TVO’s The Agenda. Dr. Samir Sinha, Director of Geriatrics at Mount Sinai appeared as a panellist discussing the need for a dementia care strategy and Dr. Bernard Zinman, clinician in our Leadership Centre for Diabetes, appeared during Diabetes Awareness Month to discuss the growing rates of type 2 diabetes.

Drucker AwardIn a Globe and Mail feature, Dr. Dan Drucker, Senior Investigator with the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, is interviewed for being named the 2018 Principal Award winner by the Ernest C.
