This was a sad and challenging week for our city.
We work in health care and are often faced with patients and families dealing with some of the most difficult times of their lives and supporting them through those tough times.
Now as fellow Torontonians and colleagues, we have some challenging times ahead and will need to support each other. It will be difficult as the names of the victims of this tragic incident become public and there may be some that have connections to those who lost their lives, their families and friends, or those in emergency services that bravely responded to the victims at the scene or in hospital.
On behalf of the leadership at Sinai Health, I want to let you know that we too are processing the enormity of this situation as we work through how this could occur in the city that we love. We are here to support you in the days and weeks to come. There are resources available to you and I would encourage you to reach out to your leaders and Human Resources to access these supports should you feel the need.
Although we cannot change the tragic outcomes of this horrific event, we can and will support each other with care and compassion during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families and loved ones.
