We’re well on our way in our redevelopment journey!

Can you believe in less than two years Mount Sinai’s redevelopment project is one third of the way behind us? In celebration of reaching this key milestone, we are looking back at our successes to date, taking a glimpse into the future, and continuing to shine a spotlight on the people who are making this ambitious project a success.

In this short time, we have celebrated opening brand new spaces including a whole floor of clinical and staff related spaces on the 20th level and new clinics for neonatal follow-up and ophthalmology. We also opened up a new Support Services department, BioBar, Health Records and Information area, and a temporary Medical Device Reprocessing Department. We have begun construction to build our new Surgical Services department, and soon we will be cutting a ribbon for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, where staff are in the middle of a 16-week transition to their brand new space.

Looking toward the future

We will expand our Schwartz/Reisman Emergency Centre, transform and relocate our Surgical Services department, build a new Intensive Care Unit, modernize our elevators, to name a few ways we will transform the care experience at Mount Sinai for our people. Take a glimpse into the future here.

We introduced you to employees like Darnell Williams, aka the ‘pilot’, who are leading the way toward achieving our redevelopment vision. Others were featured, including Tanya McDonald, Director of Operational Readiness, the two Infection Control Practitioners dedicated to the project, Barb Shea and Sarah Wells. It takes a village to deliver a project of this size, and we will continue to profile those who are responsible with making our redevelopment a success.

Renew Sinai is the largest and most ambitious redevelopment project in our history, and will completely transform how we care for our patients. Stay tuned for many more exciting milestones as we continue to transform Mount Sinai from the inside out.
