The Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, part of Sinai Health System, is a leading biomedical research centre, ranking amongst the top biomedical research institutes in the world. Established in 1985, the institute is profoundly advancing understanding of human biology in health and disease. Many of the breakthroughs that began as fundamental research have resulted in new and better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat prevalent conditions. The institute is affiliated with the University of Toronto and is focused on women’s and infants’ health, cancer biology, stem cell biology, neurobiology, diabetes, arthritis, health systems research, population health services and solutions, and systems biology.
The Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute attracts top scientists from around the world who seek to work in our research environment. Close to 40 internationally-recognized principle investigators work in contemporary fields of investigation that are aligned with the flagship clinical programs and continue to make leading-edge discoveries.
As a result of the formation of Sinai Health System, The Lunenfeld-Tanenbuam Research Institute has expanded its scope, leveraging the important research of the Bridgepoint Collaboratory for Research and Innovation in the area of health systems research, population health services and solutions.
Sinai Health System Research Ethics Board oversees all research involving human subjects conducted under the auspices of Mount Sinai Hospital to ensure that such research meets the highest scientific and ethical standards.
